Alaska's Original Roadhouse
Long before the Glenn Highway was paved, before RVs rolled through the Copper River Valley, and before Alaska became a bucket list destination for travelers from around the world — there was the Ranch House.
Situated at Mile 173 of the Glenn Highway in Tolsona, Alaska, the Ranch House Lodge stands on a piece of ground that has welcomed road-weary travelers for generations. This is one of Alaska's original roadhouses — a place where miners, trappers, military convoys, and adventurers once stopped to rest, warm up, and share a drink before pushing further into the Alaskan Interior. That tradition lives on today.
Where History Meets Modern Comfort
Today Ranch House Lodge & RV Camping combines that rich Alaska history with everything today's traveler needs. We offer full hookup RV sites with 20, 30, and 50 amp service — big rig pull-thrus included — creekside tent sites along beautiful Tolsona Creek, and cozy cabin rentals that sleep the whole family. And of course, the Roadhouse Tavern is still open and still pouring cold drinks after a long day on the road.
We sit right on the Glenn Highway — easy on, easy off — making us the most convenient stop between Anchorage and Valdez. No long dirt roads, no tight turns. Just pull in, unhook, and exhale. You made it to Alaska.
Gateway to the Best of Alaska
From our front door you're minutes from some of the greatest wilderness Alaska has to offer. Wrangell-St. Elias National Park — the largest national park in the United States — is right in your backyard. The Copper River Valley offers world-class fishing, incredible wildlife viewing, and landscapes that will stop you in your tracks. Whether you're chasing salmon, hunting moose country, watching for bears, or simply driving the most scenic highway in North America — Ranch House Lodge is your home base.
Come Be Part of the Story
We've watched Alaska change across the decades. The road got paved. The rigs got bigger. The travelers kept coming. What hasn't changed is the welcome. Whether it's your first time through or your tenth, you'll find the same thing here that travelers have always found at the Ranch House — a hot meal, a cold drink, a safe place to rest, and a staff that's genuinely glad you stopped.
We hope to see you at Mile 173.
